Backlinks Database: Qualitative Analysis

We then looked at the qualitative characteristics of each backlink database.

While larger sites with huge volumes of monthly traffic may be better placed to analyze their backlink profiles, smaller sites with comparatively low traffic levels often struggle to access relevant data, even if they have at least one backlink.

Semrush found at least one referring switzerland telegram data domain for 99.5% of all URLs analyzed – more than any other tool. Since we compared the same set of domains across tools, this means that Ahrefs, Moz, and Majestic are missing more data than Semrush in their backlink analyses.

Let’s see what this means for the quality of backlink information in the market.

As we showed at the beginning of the study, Moz collected the highest total number of referring domains, but there’s more to this data than just absolute numbers.

Semrush keeps its backlink database up to date by removing backlinks that haven’t been seen for six months. Moz doesn’t indicate when a backlink was last seen, so we used the Moz API to find out this information.

We took a random sample of 100 smaller domains (out of a total of 3,500 reported backlinks) from the initial set to take a closer look at the backlink refresh aspect with Moz.

Create XX pieces of quality content

It turned out that almost half of these backlinks were more than six months old.

We noticed that Moz was reporting backlinks from outdated websites, so we decided to dig deeper and found, for example, that it was still reporting backlinks from domains like plus.google.com, which no longer exists, so the total number of legitimate inbound backlinks was clearly skewed.

In some cases, it was actually impossible to serena buscone phd student reach the links reported by Moz.

This could explain the reason for moz’s. High numbers for referring domains. As old referring domains appear to. Remain in the database.

An outdated backlink database can. Potentially hamper all off-page efforts and give. A false impression of your seo performance. Which, of course, can lead to ill-informed decisions.

If we consider all the statistics from this in-depth backlink study, the superiority of Semrush’s backlink database is obvious:

  • Semrush is the absolute leader in backlink coverage;
  • Moz performed better than other tools in identifying the quantity of referring domains, but since we spotted a few cases of stale sites, the gambler data quality of this data is questionable;
  • Ahrefs, widely seen as the leader in the field. Has consistently demonstrated inferior. Backlink data to semrush, both in. Quantity and quality; and
    whether it was backlink coverage. Referring domain coverage, or the amount. Of missing data, majestic. Consistently came in last place compared to other tools.
